the technicalities Complication #1: Gearing. The bike operates with an 18 inch rear wheel... the kart doesn't. Since I wish to use a live axle, things get a bit tricky. One revolution of the 18inch wheel is much larger than one rev of the little go kart wheel. So basically where the motorcycle is going 60mph the go kart isn't ..........weak. BUT After speaking with some experts I have decided to just build the kart with what I can find and then fiddle with different final drives and sprockets and so on when the kart is moving. If I can I'd like to try the kart out with the stock rear sprocket from the fizzer. Complication #2: Chain tension. The bike has a sort of chain tensioning system built into the rear sprocket area. This isn't a big issue but still something to think about during the project. Complication #3: Dairy tranny. I have heard from numerous sources that the transmissions on the fzr600s are made of dairy products such as cheese. This isn't good news considering that I had plans to thrash the living hell out of it. The kart also has a much larger and stickier contact patch than the bike which should help kill it even quicker. This is more of a worry than a complication but I thought should I mention it.
