the inspiration

The idea for this project was conceived when I decided to buy an Ariel Atom. I was all ready for it. I wanted the one with the supercharged 300hp engine in orange color. I was going to pick it up from Oregon... tell those Brammo guys to put a pulley to allow 3 more psi of boost and drive it back to Colorado. The only snag was the 40000 dollar purchase price.

The quickest way to recreate an experience vaguely close to the Atom was to build a vehicle primarily consisting of pipes and a powerful engine. I started searching for sites and videos pertaining to go-karts with larger-than-usual motors and found some interesting examples.

1: The "MonsterKart" - R1 motor

2: The GixxerKart -  GSXR1100 motor

3: Some 600cc Kart - CBR600 motor

4: The "Wheelyking" Kart - 1100cc motor

5: The Lancer - ZX-9R motor

6: The Israeli Kart - ZX-6R motor

After watching the above videos repeatedly during winter break I got obsessed with the idea and went into a sort of delirium. During my mental frenzy the decision for an i4 engine was made and we purchased a 1989 Yamaha FZR600... and so it began!
